Cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Angola

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Angola were established on April 24, 1995. The Ambassador of Belarus to South Africa is accredited in Angola as non-resident. Also, concurrently, the Ambassador of Angola to Russia is accredited in Belarus.

The legal base of cooperation between Belarus and Angola is in the formation stage. The Protocol on Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was concluded. Signed, but not yet ratified by the Angolan side, the Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection.

The trade relations of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Angola have the following dynamics:

The items of Belarussian exports’ basis are special products, quarry and road machinery, appliances, other high-tech products. Throughout 2010 — 2017 years the basis of Belarusian exports to Angola was the supply of nitrogen and potash fertilizers, MAZ machinery, tractors, X-ray equipment and tires, metallurgy products, BelAZ dump trucks.

Visits at the highest level were not carried out.

In August 2015, the first round of bilateral foreign policy consultations was held in the city of Luanda at the level of deputy heads of the ministries of foreign affairs. The heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in 2016.

The first official visit in the history of diplomatic relations to the Republic of Belarus of the Minister of External Relations of Angola G.R. Chicoti took place in June 2017. Besides, he had a meeting with the Head of the Belarusian state. In November 2017 the delegation headed by the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus visited Angola.
