Ambassador of Belarus Andrei Molchan visits Eastern Cape Province

On January 27-28, 2016 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of South Africa Andrei Molchan paid a working visit to the city of East London, the capital of Eastern Cape Province.

During the visit Ambassador attended the annual Conference on the development of agriculture of the Eastern Cape Province.

The forum was attended by the representatives of the provincial Government, heads of local municipalities, the largest agricultural associations in the country, representatives of the banking sector and business community. One of the key issues of the conference was the strengthening of the cooperation with Belarus through the deliveries of Belarusian agricultural machinery and the creation of assembly production of tractors.

Ambassador of Belarus addressed the report which demonstrates the potential of Belarusian agriculture and directions of possible cooperation with the Eastern Cape.

Belarusian side also presented Minsk Tractor Work (MTZ) products and the project of industrial assembly of the Belarusian tractors for South Africa.


The main achievement of the conference was the resolution submitted by the Province farming community with the appeal to the regional Authorities to assist in the procurement of Belarusian tractors and rigs for the local farmers, as well as the support of the project of the establishment the assembly enterprise of MTZ equipment in Eastern Cape.

During the visit A.Molchan met with the authorities of the Province and the city of East London, representatives of agricultural business of South Africa and discussed a wide range of possibilities of bilateral cooperation.
