Ambassador of Belarus visits South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee

3 February, 2016  Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in South Africa Mr. Andrei Molchan met the management of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC): Secretary-General Mr. Tubby Reddy and a Board member of SASCOC/ Member of the International Olympic Committee Mr. Sam Ramsey.

Both sides expressed an interest in establishing the direct cooperation between the National Olympic Committee of Belarus (NOC) and SASCOC. In particular, it was noted that close cooperation between Belarus and South Africa in the field of sport will bring undoubted mutual benefits. For example, taking into account the different climatic and seasonal conditions it could be promising for athletes of the two countries to prepare for the competitions at the sports facilities of Belarus and/or South Africa, as well as sharing experiences and coaches in sport disciplines which are not yet developed in South Africa and/or Belarus (for example, the South African experience in Rugby, Golf, Cricket; and Belarusian experience in Gymnastics, Ice-Hockey, Weightlifting, Tennis, Wrestling). Bpth sides expressed the willingness of national teams to participate in sporting events held in the territories of the two countries.

 

It was admitted that constructive cooperation within the framework of the International Olympic Committee and the Association of national Olympic committees is essential.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare and sign in the near future the agreement on cooperation between the NOC and SASCOC.
