Cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Botswana

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Botswana were established on March 15, 2006.

The legal base of bilateral relations is currently being developed. Work is underway on a number of cooperation agreements and memoranda.

In early June 2025, H.E. Dr. Edwin Gorataone Dikoloti, Minister of Lands and Agriculture of the Republic of Botswana, visited Belarus to participate in the 35th international agricultural exhibition “BELAGRO”. He met with H.E. Viktar Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, along with Ministers of Agriculture and Food, Industry and Foreign Affairs of Belarus. An MoU on agricultural mechanization in Botswana was signed during the visit.

At the invitation of H.E. Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Phenyo Butale, Minister of International Relations of the Republic of Botswana, accompanied by H.E. Lesego Chombo, Minister for Youth and Gender Affairs of the Republic of Botswana, paid the first official visit to Belarus within July 1-4, 2025. The Ministers held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of the Republic of Belarus.

Bilateral business contacts have been intensified. On July 23–24, 2025, Director General of the National Centre for Marketing Mikalai Barysevich visited Botswana. The National Centre for Marketing of the Republic of Belarus agreed with Business Botswana on drafting a roadmap for further cooperation. The Centre also agreed with Botswana Investment and Trade Centre on the exchange of data. Botswana's business delegation is expected in Belarus.
