On April 1, 2021, a webinar on “Opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the province of Kwazulu-Natal in the field of textiles and clothing“ was held in the video conference format. The event was held at the initiative of the Embassy with the support of the Trade and Investment Agency of the South African Province of Kwazulu-Natal (TIKZN).

During the webinar, the Deputy Chairman of the Bellegprom concern, V.V. Lamkov, presented the potential of the Belarusian light industry to South African businessmen. Presentations were made by representatives of RSPP “Orsha Flax Mill”, JSC “Kamvol”, JSC “Mogotex”, MO JSC “Luch”. From the South African side, companies working in the field of supply of linen products, tailoring and footwear, designers were represented. The number of participants of the event was 18 people.

During the videoconference, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of South Africa Alexandr Sidoruk  held a speech  on cooperation between the companies in light industry of two countries, and reached an agreement on further direct contacts between businessmen of Belarus and the province of Kwazulu-Natal.

On April 15-16, 2021, the Ambassador is going to meet the Premier of the Province of Kwazulu-Natal, S. Zikalala, where possible new areas of bilateral cooperation will be discussed.

The province of Kwazulu-Natal is the second most populous province in South Africa (11.5 million people), contributing about 16 percent to the country's GDP (it ranks second among the nine provinces in terms of economic indicators).
