Ambassador A.Sidoruk visits the Republic of Namibia

On 19-22 June 2022 Ambassador Alexander Sidoruk visited Windhoek, where he held a number of bilateral meetings in Namibian ministries, business circles and educational institutions.
At the meeting with the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia Jenelly Matundu the Ambassador stressed that Belarus is invariably interested in developing relations with Namibia and is ready to intensify dialogue in all areas. J.Matundu noted that the Namibian side supports the initiatives and is ready to resume contacts, the activity of which was reduced due to the pandemic. Special attention is paid to the work on the legal framework.
At the meeting with the Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation of Namibia, Itah Kandjii-Murangi, the prospects for Belarusian-Namibian cooperation in the field of education were discussed. The Namibian side was informed about the procedure of selecting foreign citizens to study at the expense of grants in state institutions of higher and secondary specialized education of the Republic of Belarus.
The discussion of interaction in the field of education and interuniversity cooperation continued during a meeting with the founder and rector of the International University of Management, Professor David Namwandi.
During the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Land Reform of the Republic of Namibia Anna Shiweda, issues of cooperation in the field of agriculture, possible supplies of Belarusian agricultural machinery and equipment were discussed. The interest of representatives of the Ministry was aroused by proposals for the exchange of experience in the field of agricultural mechanization, as well as for the training of Namibian students in higher educational institutions of Belarus in agricultural specialties.
The Ambassador informed the Minister of Industrialization and Trade of Namibia Lucia Iipumbu about the industrial potential of the Republic of Belarus, about the experience of Belarusian enterprises in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The Namibian Minister noted the interest in finding joint projects, especially in the areas of investment and the creation of assembly plants in Namibia.
At the meeting in the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the President Bisey Uirab and Executive Director Charity Mwaya, the Republic of Belarus, trade, economic and export potential were presented. The issues of establishing contacts with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, holding a video conference between the leaders of two Chambers in the near future, as well as holding possible business forums and sending business missions of the two countries were discussed.
